Simplified linear and branching narrative design pattern templates are now available as part of the download. This has been a much asked-for addition since the book was launched. 

I'll be the first to admit that the design of the book itself can be a bit of a barrier to using its concepts - unfortunately what makes a book effective isn't exactly what the diagrams end up looking like as they're used. Now there are two templates that are simple to begin using, along with specific examples for actual game projects that exist in the real world.

So whether you're starting a new project, trying to wrap your head around where you currently are or analysing another project for its success and failures now starting is as simple as firing up diagrams.net or lucidchart.com, importing the template you need and getting your team together.
